In honor of St. Patrick’s Day I’m featuring a super cute cake smash from a couple years ago. Tanner had a ‘Lucky One’ themed first birthday and cake smash session in the studio. He did amazing and who could resist those big blue eyes?!

It’s no secret I love doing sessions at Smithville Mansion and the park around it. No matter what time of day or the season it’s just an awesome place to go. I met the Cairns Family there in the fall of 2020 to do a family session with their little girl and it was so much fun. It was really hard narrowing down which pictures to use for this post. There were so many cute moments.
When most people think of Christmas portraits they think about being in a studio but your home can be a wonderful backdrop! It’s a perfect way to showcase all the hard work you put into decorating! I love that the Boufidis family does this every year. This year was extra exciting because I had the opportunity to meet their new daughter! Covid cancelled our plans of doing her newborn session in early 2020 so I it was so nice getting to see everyone again and take their first portraits as a family of four!
2021 was such an insane year for photographers. We had to cram all of 2020 and 2021 weddings into one season! Now that the craziness is behind me I’ll be taking time to catch up on all the sessions and weddings I missed blogging in the past year and a half. First up is Madeline’s 1st birthday session!
In 2018 I photographed Chelsea and Matt’s wedding at Running Deer Golf Club so I was so excited to hear from them when it was time to do their daughter’s first birthday session. It’s always wonderful to see my old couples again and get the chance to catch up! We met up at Croft Farms in Cherry Hill on a warm, July evening. Madeline was wonderful and we had so much fun taking family pictures then some of her alone. She wasn’t too sure what to make of the cake but she looked adorable!
I love when families get together to do an extended session. They take a lot of work to coordinate everyone’s schedules, outfits and hope all the kids cooperate but the payoff is so worth it! For this session we were blending two extended families so it was extra special. Everyone looked amazing together with their coordinating (but not matching) outfits. They all complimented each other so nicely when we mixed up the groupings and worked well together in their little family units.
I can’t believe a year has passed since I did Dominic’s newborn photos! In that session we incorporated baseball and football themes so it’s very fitting that his cake smash was baseball themed with a Phillies cake! We started out with portraits of Dominic and a few family ones as well. Then we headed to the baseball field to let him have his cake!
I met the cutest little farmer last week when Anthony came in for his 1st birthday session. I was so excited when his mom told me her Old McDonald theme I was so excited to create his cake smash set. I found an adorable backdrop and then added hay bales and adorable little stuffed farm animals to it. It was so cute! For his portraits we incorporated decorations that mom hand created. She hand painted ONE letters and a sign for Anthony’s birthday party that worked perfect for portraits. The whole session was so much fun and we had so many cute pictures!
Last weekend I met up with the Miller Family for their annual family session. I’ve loved seeing the girls each year and watching them grow and their personalities blossom. This year we met at the Barclay Farmstead Museum in Cherry Hill, NJ. The girls were dressed in beautiful yellow lace dresses with maroon knee socks that complimented the maroon Mom and Dad wore in their outfits. Every time Chrissy does an amazing job putting their outfits together and this year was no different! As we wandered around the grounds of the farmstead we captured a mix of candids and posed portraits. The girls playfulness really came out as they explored and the fence lining the walkways was a big hit for climbing in an out of. We also made our way over the bridge into the woods to look for woodland creatures. We didn’t find any but the girls still had fun exploring!
Little Tanner came into the studio to see me a couple weeks ago for his first photo shoot! We just did Kacie’s maternity session just about a few weeks before Tanner made his arrival.
Tanner was 14 days old at his session and big brother Brayden came along for some sibling and family portraits too. He did amazing and was so cute with his new baby brother. Tanner also did awesome and slept through most of the session.
AJ came to see me in the studio a couple days before his first birthday. We had fun building a Little Man theme around his super cute 1st Birthday shirt. My son had the same theme for his first birthday so it’s very special to me.
We started out with his birthday portraits in front of an adorable mustache backdrop. AJ did amazing and was so happy the whole time! As long as we kept him in the chair he stayed still for us. If we put him down he was crawling as fast as he could right over to his cake! After we did some pictures with his big sister we let him have that cake :)
AJ wasn’t shy about jumping right into playing with his cake. His grandma made an adorable cake for him and he definitely seemed to find it quite tasty! He made quick work of destroying the whole cake. Cake literally flew all around the studio! AJ definitely wins for the most destructive cake session haha!
Kacie’s maternity session at Tyler State Park was extra special to me. I’ve been there for almost every step of her and Luke’s love story, documenting it all. From his proposal at Prospector’s Steak House and Bar to their engagement, wedding and first baby boy Brayden’s newborn session. I’ve loved having a front row seat to watch their love story unfold.
Kacie looked absolutely stunning for their maternity session. She wore a gorgeous maroon dress that just popped so wonderfully against the park’s backdrop. Brayden did amazing too and smiled so big for all of his pictures! We had a great time and you’d never known they were all braving the cold February weather! Tyler State Park was the perfect backdrop for their maternity session and I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day!
I can’t believe its been almost a year already since Salvatore came in for his newborn session! He is still absolutely adorable!

Last spring I had a great time taking the Miller’s family portraits at Kirby’s Mill in Medford. It’s such a cute little spot that is packed full of great picture locations. I always love getting together with the Millers too! Their girls are so incredibly sweet. Their older daughter melted my heart when she took my hand to walk over to the next spot. It was such a great session full of so much family love!
Happy Valentine’s Day! This weekend I did a Valentine Day session with the kids and it came out so cute. It was a fun way to kick off the year! We did some portraits of each of them on a simple wood backdrop and then a super cute Valentine backdrop. The simplicity really let the kids shine and show off their beautiful smiles.

As the winter cold keeps me cooped up inside I’m dreaming of the spring that is coming! Last spring I took the Duvall boys spring pictures at Croft Farm. I love watching them grow up and they always do amazing! We did portraits of them together as well as individually. to give Mom and Dad lots of variety. We also fit in some first birthday portraits! Get ready for some cuteness overload!
Brayden came to visit me in the studio for his first birthday and cake smash session. This session was super special and a bit emotional because Brayden is a special little boy. He was born early at barely 30 weeks and fought hard to grow strong over the last year. Mom and Dad wanted to incorporate his NICU picture and I was happy to make it happen! Brayden wasn’t really into smashing his cake but we still had a great time.

Read MoreI had so much fun doing the Watermelon Mini Sessions. All of the kids enjoyed their watermelon treat and their parents and I had quite a few laughs watching them. I've been thinking about doing these sessions for a few uears and I'm so glad I did them finally. The set came out just like I pictured it and the kids had a blast.
